The cage surrounds
the animal
Who has stopped pacing
Its heart beats
to no avail
It knows that no escape
has appeared
And animals
are meant for
captivity
With a clean coat
and a clean behavior
and no blood
dripping from its jaw
As the white picket fence
surrounds the painted home
and she wears a white apron,
double knotted
